De moins que rien à peu lon peut venir,
Et puis ce peu n’a si peu de puissance
Que bien ne face à lassez parvenir,
Celui qui veut aimer la suffisance.
Mais si au trop de malheur il s’avance,
Et ne reçoit d’assez contentement,
Est en danger par sa folle inconstance
De retourner à son commencement,
De moins, de moins que rien.

From less than nothing, a little can be reached,
And this little has not so little power
That it cannot bring to just enough
The man disposed to love sufficiency.
But if, by misfortune he should too much then advance,
And with enough is not content to be content,
He is in danger, through his fickle folly,
Of going back to where his first beginning was,
In less, in less than nothing.
