[S]-C1; A-C3; T-C4; B-F4. No evidence of chant. Textual phrases are characterized by clarity of structure with defined cadences, chordal homophony, slow harmonic rhythm moving primarily in breves and semibreves, stylistic features shared with lauda. Verses 7 (“O clemens”) and 8 (O pia”) are notated entirely in breves. Duo passages provide textural contrast: T/B, “mater misericordiae, mm. 6-11; A/B “ad te clamamus,” mm. 22-6; and S/T, “ad te suspiramus,” mm. 33-8. Varied repetition enhances unity: mm. 1-5=12-15; 6-11=33-8; and 17-21=46-9. Following verse 9, the phrase “intercede pro nobis ad Dominum” concludes the antiphon. Declamatory style defines text setting. Final g, b♭ signature with inclusion of several e flats.
