[A]-C4; [T]-C4 & C3; [B]-F-3. Entire range, c-a’. “Salve” intonation (B). Chant (App. 4) serves as cantus firmus (B) in continuous semibreves in partes 1-4 and 6-10; verse 5, the centerpiece of the antiphon, includes chant (B) measured within triple mensuration. Formal structure, predicated upon plainsong, also emphasizes verse 5 as the lengthiest pars (29 mm.); other partes range from 7 mm. (“O clemens” and “O pia”) to 20 mm. (“Ad te suspiramus”). The texture primarily consists of two independent upper voices supported by plainsong; however, consistent sembreves in both chant and upper voice in verse 4 present a stable framework for the middle voice to weave itself around the upper voice. A combination of syllabic and melismaic text setting mirror the plainsong. Final d.
