Polyphonic ensemble SATBX

C-C1; A-C3; Q-C4; T-C4; B-F4. Alternatim setting. An examination of Vaet’s four-voice Salve regina (SR249) and this setting suggests that the former was most likely the model.[1] Paraphrased chant (App. 4) associated with “vita” is a variant of the “vita” melody in SR249. The added voice, Quintus, complements the T to create a more dense texture than that of the model. The composer has deleted C in 2.p. of both settings. Except for pars 2 the other partes are the same or of similar length (see below). Final d (1.p., 2.p., 3.p.); a (4.p.).
