Partitions

[1] Salve regina

Polyphonic ensemble

[C]-C2; A-C4; B-F4. Chant (App. 4) serves as a canon at the octave and distance of a breve between C and T for 1.p. and 3.p. that emphasizes the symmetry of the structure; for the “Duo,” 2.p., the textual centerpiece, chant is relegated to T as a cantus firmus with anticipatory entries at beginning of textual phrases “Eia ergo” and “illos tuos.” Primarily intact, but with occasional embellishments (e.g., “tui,” mm. 105-8, and the five-measure extension of verse 9), chant appears as long-note values at the beginning of each pars but gradually acquires the rhythmic character of the other voices. The 1.p. in triple mensuration contrasts with duple mensuration of the 2.p. and 3.p. A melismatic style defines the text setting. Final d.

[2] Eia ergo

Polyphonic ensemble

[3] Et Jesum

Polyphonic ensemble SAB

Salve, regina, mater misericordiae;

O clemens,

O pia,

O dulcis virgo Maria.
