Tp-C1; A-C3; T-C4; B-F4. Alternatim setting. Verse 6, “Et Jesum…” is divided into two parts, the first set polyphonically and the second beginning with “nobis…” in chant. A Spanish version of the chant[1] usually realized in breves and semibreves pervades the imitative, contrapuntal texture at the beginning of 1.p. and with text “benedictum fructum” of verse 6. In other parts of the antiphon the presence of chant predominates in Tp and T, an obvious element in the paired imitative passages (Tp/A and T/B) that introduces 2.p. (mm. 24-31) and 4.p. (mm. 77-85). Of particular interest is the inclusion of the hidden “salve” motto in A (mm. 16-18) paired with the concluding word of verse 2. Verse 9 reads “O dulcis virgo semper Maria.” A declamatory text setting prevails. Final d.
