[1] Salve regina

Polyphonic ensemble SATB

S-C1; A-C3; T-C4; B-F4. Chant (App. 4) primarily relegated to S, frequently appears as breves and semibreves; for the text “O clemens” chant is cast in longae and breves in contrast with the more rapid rhythmic gestures (minums and semiminums) in lower voices engaged in an imitative fabric. Chant permeates the contrapuntal texture for “Et Jesus, benedictum” and the word “nobis” in the 3.p. To complement the chant, Beauserron repeats the polyphony of “Salve…misericoridae”

Salve, regina, mater misericordiae;

O clemens,

O pia,

O dulcis virgo Maria.
