Polyphonic ensemble SATB

[C]-C3; [A]-C3; [T]-C3; [B]-F3; 2.p., C4. Voce pari. Entire range B♭-a’. Three upper voices share range f-a’; lowest voice (B) with primary range of c-e’ does not cross above upper voices. Chant (App. 3), cast as semibreves, permeates imitative, polyphonic texture concurrent with the first three textual lines, as well as specific words: “regina celi,” mm. 1-12; “qui quem,” mm. 30-8; “portare,” mm. 44-56; “resurexit,” mm. 78-84; and “sicut dixit,” mm. 87-92. The first two “alleluia” sections are similarly introduced. On the other hand, plainsong, surrounded by a contrapuntal web, serves as a cantus firmus in longae (T) for the 4th textual phrase, “ora…” (mm. 101-16). Paired imitation (A/T and S/B, mm. 116-24) introduces the final “alleluia” (mm. 116-53) primarily constructed of paraphrased chant. Though the antiphon has been composed within a narrow range, transparency and spatial elements are evident.[1] Final C.

1. Style characteristics, structural features and specific use of plainsong suggest a remarkable relationship with RC303.
