Titre complet / Autres titres

RC254 Quia quem meruisti 4 vv ; [2.p.] Ora pro nobis 4 vv

Partitions

[1] Quia quem meruisti

Polyphonic ensemble SATB

[C]-C1; [A]-C3; [T]-C4; [B]-F4. Alternatim setting. Chant (App. 3) appears intact for initial pitches of textual phrases but is treated with freedom as voices unfold within an imitative, contrapuntal fabric. In contrast to duple mensuration of the 1.p., the entire 2.p. is in triple mensuration; comprising two thirds of the 2.p. the “alleluia” section (a repeated 8-measure phrase) exhibits highly syncopated rhythmic gestures. Declamatory text setting is primarily in syllabic style. Final F, b♭ signature.

[2] Ora pro nobis

Polyphonic ensemble SATB

Description

Unattributed entries RC253-RC260 in LeidGA 1442 are possibly by Johannes Flamingus who is credited with 12 compositions in the manuscript and was also one of the scribes.
