Two equal choirs. C-C1; A-C3; T-C4; B-F4; Bc. Chr. I, C3, F-4, C1; Chr. II, F4. A Bc (basso seguente) supports each choir. Chant introduces each of the four textual phrases and permeates the imitative texture: “Regina…,” mm. 1-11; “quia…,” mm. 22-9; “resurrexit…,” mm. 35-44; and “Ora…,” mm. 50-9. Textual phrases or specific words (“alleluia”) are characterized by contrast of texture, mensuration and antiphonal techniques. The above four phrases are presented by either one choir (e.g., “quia…meruisti,” Chr. I, mm. 22-9; and “resurrexit…dixit,” Chr. II, mm. 35-44), or antiphonally (e.g., “regina…laetare,” mm. 1-12 and “ora…Deum,” mm. 51-9) wherein, except for the initial chant quotation, the motivic and rhythmic gestures of each choir differ considerably. The four “alleluia” sections in homorhythmic texture with independent voices and syllabic text setting, triple mensuration with rhythmic gestures of 3 semibreves and a sequence of minum/semibreve in 2 or 4-measure phrases, and antiphonal responses, are treated as refrains. The first “alleluia” section (mm. 12-22) presents musical material that is recyled in subsequent “alleluia” sections. “Alleluia” 2 involves antiphonal responses of first four measures of first “alleluia.” “Alleluia” 3 is identical to first 7 measures of first “alleluia.” First seven measures of final “alleluia” (mm. 60-71) are similar to second “alleluia” followed by four measures that are identical to final measures (mm. 18-22) of first “alleluia.” The antiphon concludes in duple mensuration with a brief coda of 3 measures. Each choir is harmonically independent. Final F, b♭ signature.
