Two equal choirs. C-C1; A-C3; T-C4; B-F4; Bc-C4 & F4. The Bc, a basso seguente, is not essential to a performance of the antiphon. Entire range, F-d’’. No evidence of chant. Textual phrases are differentiated through antiphonal treatment, texture, rhythmic gestures and mensuration. Musical material associated with the four textual lines ranges from imitative (line 1) to homorhythmic with independent voices (lines 2, 3 & 4). Identical “alleluia” sections (mm. 6-10, 14-8 and 22-6) follow lines 1, 2, & 3, with alternation of same material in choirs, all in triple mensuration. Line 4 (“Ora,…alleluia,” mm. 26-58) constitutes more than half of the antiphon, and the only segment with indications of Rip. and Fors.[1] in the Bc. “Ora…Deum” (Rip.), stated two times (mm. 26-9 & 29-32), involves exchange of musical material between choirs; the following “alleluia” section (mm. 33-42) with rhythmic gestures of minums and semiminums consists of an overlapping antiphonal exchange between choirs with slight variation. The textual and musical materials devoted to line 4 (mm. 26-42) are repeated (mm. 42-58). Final F, b♭ signature.

(forastieri), cited in Bc, refers to outside, or ”foreign,” paid musicians (i.e., musicians not part of the musical establishment of the specific church or cathedral), who performed the solo passages (concertino).
