Partitions

Polyphonic ensemble SSAATTBB

Two equal choirs. C-C1; A-C3; T-C4; B-F4. The presence of chant (App. 3) is limited to mottos identifying “regina caeli” (A and C) and “ora pro nobis” (T and A). Textual phrases are defined particularly through thematic material and antiphonal treatment. First (“regina laetare”) and fourth (“ora…Deum”) phrases, assigned to Chr. I, and phrase two (“quia…alleluia”) designated to Chr. II, exhibit imitative, contrapuntal texture; on the other hand, the following “alleluia” passages in homorhythmic style are treated antiphonally and conclude with brief tutti sections. “Resurrexit…alleluia,” primarily homorhythmic in style, undergoes considerable antiphonal development with overlapping reiterations of “resurrexit” (2 semiminums followed by 2 minums) and “alleluia” (3 minums and a semibreve). The final “alleluia,” treated antiphonally in contrasting triple mensuration (mm. 30-33) concludes with a tutti in duple mensuration (mm. 34-8). Declamatory text setting prevails. Final F, b♭ signature.
