Partitions

[1] Regina caeli

Polyphonic ensemble SSATTB

C I-C1; C II-C1; A-C3; T I-C4; T II-C4; B-F4. Chant (App. 3) permeates the imitative, contrapuntal texture with each textual phrase, but is stated most completely, always at pitch of chant and primarily in semibreves in T II; “alleluia” sections consist of new material. In contrast with Lassus’ other settings of Regina coeli that exhibit a continuous texture for all voices, this antiphon includes introductory passages for 1-4 voices up to five measures in length for the four textual phrases. Except for the brief antiphonal treatment of “alleluia” (mm. 31-35) that emphasizes melismatic style, the text setting is defined by declamatory style. Final F, b♭ signature.

[2] Resurrexit
