Partitions

[1] Regina coeli

Polyphonic ensemble SATB

C-C1; A-C3; T-C4; B-F4. Chant (App. 3), intact at the beginning of textual phrases, pervades the imitative, contrapuntal fabric. Whereas the first two phrases include the initial seven or eight pitches of the respective chant, the melismas are omitted except for principal pitches (c’, f, g, f) of the “portare” melisma. On the other hand, the double melisma associated with the final “alleluia” is fully represented as a cantus firmus in the T. For the second “alleluia” Ingegneri places the chant in both C and B at the interval of a twelfth; the middle voices have new material. Within a continuous texture declamatory text setting prevails. Final F, b♭ signature.
