[S]-C1; [A]-C3; [T I]-C4; [T II]-C4; [B I]-F4; [B II]-F4. Chant provides the structural framework for Festa’s antiphon. Chant (App. 3) associated with “regina caeli” constitutes an ostinato cantus firmus in T I of the 1.p. and the chant for “resurrexit” provides a similar ostinato for 2.p. also in T I. Each ostinato is cast within a symmetrical plan: 6 statements of the four-measure (4 breves) ostinato each separated by 4 mm. of silence in the 1.p. and 7 statements of a five-measure ostinato each separated by 4 mm. of silence for 2.p. Additionally, the other voices include chant frequently stated in semibreves within an imitative contrapuntal texture. The admonition “ora,” separated by silence, introduces the third textual phrase in the three lower voices. A combination of syllabic and melismatic styles defines the text setting. Final F, b♭ signature.
