S-C1; A-C3; T-C4 [1.p.], C3 [2.p.]; B-F4. The four lower voices are within the range F-a’. Chant (App. 3) significantly influences the structure of the antiphon through its presence in canon between T voices and anticipatory statements in S, A and B for each textual phrase, all within an imitative, contrapuntal fabric. Canon at the upper fifth (“Le premier va devant”) at the distance of three breves defines the 1.p. whereas canon at the lower fifth (“Le devant va deriere”) also at the distance of three breves distinguishes the 2.p.[1] Semibreves and breves predominate in the canonic voices except for the final “alleluia” where rhythmic gestures reflect those of other voices. Syllabic text setting occurs with initial words of phrases; thereafter, text underlay becomes indifferent. Final F, b♭ signature.
