Polyphonic ensemble SSAATTBB

Two contrasting choirs. Chr. I: C-C1; A-C1; T-C3; B-F3. Range, B♭-d’’. Chr. II: C-C3; A-C4; T-C4; B-F4. Range, F-a’. C and A of Chr. I, within the same range (c’-d’’), frequently exchange roles. No evidence of chant. Textual phrases or specific words (e.g., “resurrexit”) are differentiated through antiphonal treatment and repetition. “Alleluia” sections function as a refrain with limited degree of variation. The repeated fourth textual phrase, “Ora…Deum, alleluia” (mm. 28-36=37-44) is followed by a two-measure coda. Homorhythmic style accompanied with syllabic text setting defines each choir as well as tutti segments. Final F, b♭ signature.
