Two equal choirs. [S]-C1; [A]-C3; [T]-C4; [B]-F4. Chant (App. 3) permeates the imitative texture with initial pitches of the four textual phrases “regina…laetare” (omission of melissma), “quia…meruisti,” “resurrexit…dixit” and “ora…Deum”; chant does not influence “alleluia” sections. Overlapping antiphonal responses involve repetition of textual/musical material, typically found at the beginning of textual phrases, varied responses as well as new material for concluding tutti sections. “Alleluia” sections in triple mensuration tend toward homorhythmic style at the beginning of phrases becoming increasingly contrapuntal as the voices develop. To increase the cumulative effect for the final “alleluia” Berti includes 12 overlapping responses of the text in homorhythmic style concluding with a tutti in duple mensuration and contrapuntal style. Declamatory text setting prevails. Final F, b♭ signature.
