S-C1; M-C3; T-C4; B-F4. No use of chant. Imitative, contrapuntal texture with distinctive motivic material employed for textual phrases. Note use of paired imitation for “ave Domina angelorum” and invertible counterpoint with “gaude virgo gloriosa” (M & S/T & B). Textual/musical sections are defined by cadence, number of voices, texture changes and motivic material. Declamatory text setting; melismas for “Ave,” “caelorum” and “vale.” Final G with use of both f and f-sharp.
