C-G2; A-C3; Sx-C3; Q-C3; T-C3; B-F4. The C (f’-f’’) and B (A-c’) are within their usual ranges; on the other hand, the 4 middle voices all fall within the range f-c’’ resulting in considerable voice crossing. Imitative, contrapuntal texture prevails wherein chant (App. 1) particularly permeates the texture of the initial pitches of phrases; newly composed material is also treated imitatively. The text setting exhibits a combination of declamatory and melismatic styles. Final F, b♭ signature.

Alma redemptoris mater, quae pervia caeli porta manes
Et stella maris, succurre cadenti surgere qui curat populo:
Tu quae genuisti, natura mirante, tuum sanctum genitorem:
Virgo prius ac posterius, Gabrielis ab ore sumens illud, Ave, peccatorum miserere.
