Listed as chaplain in the court of Louis de Male in April 1383, after having served "the family of Cassel of Flanders". On 2.5.1383, he and Henri Potage each received a gift of 24 l. from the duke of Brugundy (Wright 1979, p. 186, doc. 35, after F-AD59, B 4072, f. 46v). On 28.2.1384 he was formally released from his duties along with the other members of Louis’s court chapel (Wright 1979, p. 56). In between this and being recruited into Philip the Bold’s court, he and the former members of Louis’s court chapel were given 80 francs each to provide for their personal needs (id., p.187, doc. 44: "pour faire leurs depens et avoir leurs neccessitez").
