Chapel of Burgundy, 1384-1399
He joined Philip the Bold’s chapel in Paris on 27.5.1384. In the lists of chaplains, he appears second-last in 1384, but moved up to the middle of the list in 1385 after the promotion of Jean Grosseteste* and Jean Martin* to chaplains, and eventually up to third on the list from 1395 onwards. He held this position until his death on 21 December 1399. C. Wright considers that his nickname "Le Bourgoing" implies Burgundian origins, and that he was hired in Paris (Wright 1979, p. 57, 59, 162, 212-226, refering to F-AD21, B1487, f. 24v for the nickname "Le Bourgoing").
