Church of Our Lady in Bruges, 1485-1500 (but not 1516)
R. Strohm (1985) devotes an entry of his "Appendix of musicians employed in churches of Bruges until c. 1510" to "Atrio, Jaspar de" designated as clericus tenorista of the church of Our Lady in Bruges, cited on 8.7.1485, and still a singer in 1500 (Strohm 1985, App. A, p. 132, refering to Dewitte 1970, p. 114). A. Dewitte indeed lists "Jaspar de Atro" as a singer in 1500 (ibid.) but adds in his alphabetical appendix of singers two entries for: "Jaspar Atro" residing in Rome in 1500, and still a singer in 1516, acting as prepositus sociorum musice (Dewitte 1970, p. 124).

Church of Saint Walburga in Oudenaarde, c. 1470-1500
E. Verroken recently explained that these first two entries in fact refer to a singer from Oudenaarde named "Her Jaspaert van den Kerchove", whose registration at the University of Leuven in 1476 was recorded under the name ‘Jaspar de Cymitterio de Aldenaerdo (Tornac. dioc.)’. Den Kerchove had become a member of the Confraternity of Our Lady in St. Walburga’s church between 1467 and 1477, and administered the cofer of its altar of our Lady of Milan (‘van Onze-Vrouwe van Milanen’). An Oudenaarde document states that van den Kerchove died in Rome in 1500 (‘gestorven is binnen der stede van Rome’) and that his sister Mergriete and half-brother Willem de Moor had to buy a rent to finance the execution of his testament (Verroken 2020, p. 188-189).

Comment
The distribution of this singer's activity between Bruges and Oudenaarde remain somewhat unclear, so his employments in both churches has been assumed to last all over his period of activity. The third mention of a "Jaspar Atro" in Bruges has to refer to another singer.
