Biographie

Composer credited with three chansons in Du Chemin imprints all simple ascribed to "Caron" in the tables of the 12th and 14th Livres de chansons nouvelles, 1557 and 1559. On f. 10v of Du Chemin's 14th book, the ascription above the music reads "Renaud. Caron.", which must be a reference to the composer's first name, though no musician of that name has been documented. It is unusual that all three songs can be traced to printed literary sources: Fleur de poesie (Lotrian 1542-43) and G. de la Taysonnière (1555).
He is not to be confused with the 15th-century composer Firmin Caron.
