Biographie

Jacques Du Buisson was an organist in the royal chamber between 1548 and 1562. The royal court documentation is summarised by Cazaux 2002 (p. 324, 351), Handy 2008 (p. 386, 404, 571 for years 1547-1562) and BrooksJ 2000 (p. 465-466 for years 1559-1562), refering to the following entries in chronological order: F-Pnm Clairambault 1216, f. 48v (organist's wages of 200 l.t., 1556), F-AN KK 125, f. 1394 (mourning clothes of the court for Henri II's funerals, 1559), F-AN, KK 129, f. 47, 290 and F-Pnm Dupuy 852, f. 23-23v and Clairambault 232, p. 2017-2017v (lists of joueurs d'instruments, 1559-1562). He is probably the composer of the 11 chansons printed by Du Chemin and Le Roy & Ballard between 1552 and 1569 with ascriptions to "Du Buisson" or "Buysson".
Whether he is the same person as the clerk of the Sainte-Chapelle of Paris who died 1573 seems possible but needs further investigation for complete confirmation.
He might be of the same familly of a Robert Du Buison who was organist of the church of Saint-Gervais in Paris from 1599 to 1629 (Bouvet 1930).
