Les Psalmes saints vos ennuis apaisans?
Ou serez vous de chanter refusans
Chansons de Dieu pour des propos si fades?

Up then, Christians! leave to the idle mob
The verses of frivolous poets;
Their writings about lascivious love
Show how much their brains are sick.
Have you not, instead of their ballads,
The holy psalms to calm your sorrows?
Or will you refuse to sing
God’s songs, preferring such worthless stuff?
