TRADUCTION :
I feel in me two opposing laws at strife,
Body and soul make war on one another
Unceasingly - each wants to slay the other.
The body seeks the earth, to heaven strives the soul,
But this great battle goes unseen by the eye
Of the mortal body that lays the feeble spirit low,
And crushing it, constrains and forces it
To be, just like itself, all full of vice.
