Polyphonic ensemble STX

[C]-C1; T-C4; Ct-F3. Chant (App. 4) cast in continuous semibreves in each pars, serves as cantus firmus (T) surrounded by independent voices that include a variety of rhythmic gestures. A semibreve rest separates verses in pars 1 and 2. Principal cadences on final d involve an ascending octave leap in Ct and descending whole step in T (cantus firmus) often coupled with under-third melodic cadence (C). Text underlay of T is modeled upon plainsong; text incipits define C and Ct. Final d (1.p., 2.p., 5.p.), a (3.p., 4.p.).
