[C]-C1; T-C4; [Ct]-F3. “Salve” intonation (C). Paraphrased chant (App. 4) in C supported by equal voices characterizes partes 1 and 2. Although the textual narrative of the three acclamations, verses 7-9 (4.p., 5.p., 6.p.), complements pars 1 and 2, chant plays a minor role. Contrast between trio and duo sections significantly emphasizes structure. Duos constitute more than two-thirds of 2.p.: C/T, verse 4, mm. 40-68; T/Ct, “Eya ergo,” mm. 69-78: and T/Ct, “benedictum…ostende,” mm. 112-28. Double leading tone cadences dominate. Triple mensuration defines partes 1, 4 and 5, duple mensuration, 2 and 3, and compound duple, 6. Text is limited to C. Final d (1.p., 3.p., 6.p.), C (2.p.,), F (4.p.), a (5.p.).
