The 2.p. opens in a similar manner (C/A and T/B) but with the initial chant pitches (C and T) appropriate to verse 4; thereafter, chant initiates most textual phrases (e.g., “in hac lacrimarum,” mm. 31-5; “benedictum,” 46-50; “nobis,” mm. 54-61; and “O pia,” 4.p.) Vaet appropriates chant melody associated with verse 5, “Eia ergo” for 3.p. rather than including the “Et Jesum” motive. Declamatory text setting prevails. Final g (1.p., 2.p., 3.p.), d (4.p.); b♭ signature.
