C-C1; Ct-C3; T-C3. Power inserted a paraphrased Alma redemptoris mater in C (mm. 1-70) but with Salve regina text. In addition, 6-10 pitches of the same antiphon appear in the C at the beginning of each trope verse. Treble domination with text limited to C defines texture for verses 1-6 whereas the three acclamations, verses 7-9 and the three trope verses manifest equality of voices with text underlaid in all voices. The trope Virgo mater[1] scored for two equal voices carries the rubric “Unus” with each verse suggesting that verses should be performed by one singer per part. Triple mensuration characterizes verses 1-7 as well as “Virgo mater,” the first trope verse; “Virgo clemens,” verses 8, “O pia” and 9, “O dulcis Maria” in compound duple mensuration surround “Funde preces,” the third trope verse, in duple mensuration. The words “mater” in verse 1 and “virgo” in verse 9 are omitted in a text set in both melismatic and syllabic styles. Final F for all sections except verses 7 (G), 8 and 9 (C); partial signature with b♭ in lower two voices of three-voice sections of lower voice of two-voice sections.

Salve, regina, mater misericordiae;

O clemens,

O pia,

O dulcis virgo Maria.
