C-C1; A-C3; T-C4; B-F4. Except for “salve” intonation (T), the setting includes no additional references to chant. This Salve regina is the only motet in falsobordone style in Lasso’s output.[1] No mensuration signs are indicated; however, mensural notation does occur preceding most cadences. Salve regina verses in homophony are recited within the following harmonic plan: verses 1 and 2, D; verse 3, A; verse 4, F-C-A; verse 5, A-F-D; verse 6, D-C-A; verse 7, A, d, A (three chords); verse 8, repeat of verse 7); verse 9, F-C-d. The word “mater” in verse 1 is omitted. Text setting in syllabic style. Final d.
