[1] Regina celi

Polyphonic ensemble SATB

[S]-C1; [A]-C3; [T]-C4; [B]-F4. Chant (App. 3), as a cantus firmus set apart in long note values (longae in “resurrexit,” breves in “regina celi” and “quia quem meruisti” and semibreves in the trope Alle domine nate matris) is assigned to T of 1.p., 3.p. and verse 1 of Alle domine nate matris[1] and B of 2.p. and verse 2 of the trope. “Ora pro nobis” exhibits only the initial interval of a fifth in B within the 18-measure 4.p. Motivic material in non-cantus firmus voices permeates the texture (e.g., “regina celi”). Texted voices (S and A) evince limited concern for text underlay. Final F, numerous editorial (b♭) insertions are necessary.

1. Alle Domine nate matris Deus alme nobis confer praestaque vivere:
O Lord, born of a kindly mother, grant and give us life.

Quam [quoniam] te decet laus honor O Domine qui de morte surgebas rex pie:
Since praise and honor become you, O blessed Lord, who rose a king from the dead:

Fac nos tecum surgere, alleluia.
Let us rise with you, alleluia.
Trope has “fac nos post te surgere” instead of “fac nos tecum surgere.”
