Polyphonic ensemble

[C]-C2; Ct-C4; T-C4. An extensively paraphrased chant (App. 3) transposed a fifth higher and presented in cantelena style is supported by one or two less rhythmically active voices. Triple mensuration defines “regina…alleluia,” “quia…alleluia” and the final “alleluia;” the first and third textual phrases manifest duple mensuration. C carries complete text whereas text incipits introduce Ct and T. Final C. Although the antiphon is attributed to “Anglicanus,” other features could suggest its English origin: distinctive melodic traits, typical mensural use, song-motet, and inclusion within a group of English works in TrentC 92.[1]
