Type

Motet

Scores

[1] Regina celi

Polyphonic ensemble STX

Tr-C1; T-C3; Ct-C4. The T carries chant (App. 3), transposed a fifth higher, including melismas associated with “letare,” “portare” and “alleluias” in a setting comparable to conductus-like English discant: homorhythmic texture, equality of voices with text that accords with the chant underlaid beneath the lowest voice (Ct). Compound duple mensuration prevails with an occasional measure(s) in compound triple mensuration. Final C.

[2] Resurrexit

Polyphonic ensemble STX

Description

Charles Hamm believes the motet is “very much in Leonel’s style.” (Hamm, 1969, p. xiv).

The Trope:

Alle Domine nate matris Deus alme nobis confer praestaque vivere:
Quam [quoniam] te decet laus honor O Domine qui de morte surgebas rex pie:
Fac nos tecum surgere, alleluia.
