D-C2; T-F2; Ct-F4. Chant (App. 3), transposed a fifth higher and relegated to D at times in breves (“letare,” “quia quem meruisti,” and “ora pro nobis Deus”), appears within a contrapuntal fabric that emphasizes D/T axis. Principal cadences primarily conclude with an octave between D and T. Whereas the Ct is partially underlaid with text, the D and T exhibit text set in melismatic style. On the other hand the final “alleluia” that carries the trope Alle Domine nate matris[1] of which the two verses parallel the double melisma contrasts with a syllabic setting for the T and the trope melody in the D; a textual incipit identifies the Ct. Final C.

1. Alle Domine nate matris Deus alme nobis confer praestaque vivere:
O Lord, born of a kindly mother, grant and give us life.

Quam [quoniam] te decet laus honor O Domine qui de morte surgebas rex pie:
Since praise and honor become you, O blessed Lord, who rose a king from the dead:

Fac nos tecum surgere, alleluia.
Let us rise with you, alleluia.
Trope reads “fac nos collaudare te” instead of “fac nos tecum surgere.”
