C-G2; A-C2; T-C3; Q-C3; B-F3. High clefs. Entire range, c-g’’. No evidence of chant. The antiphon demonstrates contrast of various voice combinations within a contrapuntal fabric. Each of the four textual phrases is introduced by a reduced number of voices. “Regina…laetare,” for example, opens with C, A and Q in a quasi-contrapuntal texture (4 mm.) followed by a varied statement an octave lower (T, Q and B). Syncopated rhythmic activity emphasizes the second and third “alleluia” sections. Declamatory text setting is defined by syllabic style associated with minums and semiminums for “resurrexit…dixit” and “alleluia” sections. Occasional cross relations (e.g., c/c♯, mm. 27-8) occur within a harmonic language with strong tonal implications. Final G.
