Full title / Other titles

Type

Motet

Scores

Polyphonic ensemble SATBX

C-G2; A-C1; Q-C2; T-C3; B-C4. High clefs. Entire range, c-e’’. Following imitative, anticipatory statements of “regina caeli” in A, C and B, chant (App. 3), transposed a fifth higher as a continuous cantus firmus, enters in m. 4 of the Q with omission of some melismas (“laetare,” the second melisma of “portare” and a portion of final “alleluia”). Motives (“quia quem,” “resurrexit” and “ora”) articulate textual phrases. Whereas the cantus firmus reflects a monorhythmic style the other voices exhibit rhythmic gestures combining semibreves, minums and semiminums within a fully voiced contrapuntal texture. Final C.
