D-C1; Q-C1; A-C3; Sx-C4; T-C4; B-F4. Two upper voices (D & Q) share same range (d’-f’’). Entire range, F-f’’. Chant, notated as black breves, serves as a continuous cantus firmus (T); melismas associated with “laetare” and “portare” are abbreviated and the final “alleluia” has been replaced by a variant of the first “alleluia.” An e♭ follows the first “d” in “quia quem” as well as “resurrexit.” Brief references to plainchant appear in the voices surrounding the cantus firmus. Imitation of rhythmic motives characterizes initial measures of “regina coeli”; there follows a full-voice texture replete with rhythmic gestures primarily composed of minums, semiminum and fusae. A syllabic text setting prevails except for “fusae” passages (dotted semiminums followed by three, five or seven fusae) and a melismatic “alleluia” segment (mm. 27-30). A jubilant, festive character defines the antiphon. Final F, b♭ signature; several e-flats in R 1088, but additional editorial e-flats required.
