Scores

[1] Regina celi

Polyphonic ensemble SATB

S-G2; A-C1; T-C2; B-C3. Entire range, e-f’’. Paired imitation between S/A and T/B introduces “regina celi” with initial pitches of chant (App. 3) in A and B. For “quia…meruisti” chant in semibreves (S) supported by parallel thirds in A/T (mm. 23-26) is followed by repetition of chant statement in T. On the other hand, initial pitches of chant permeate the imitative, contrapuntal texture for “resurrexit” and “ora pro nobis.” Introduced by a short passage in invertible counterpoint (mm. 88-92), an embellished chant permeates the texture for the final “alleluia” that constitutes almost half of the 2.p. (27 of 59 mm.). A melismatic text setting embraces rhythmic gestures of minums and semiminums. Final F, b♭ signature.
