[1] Regina coeli

Polyphonic ensemble SX

S-C1; Ct-C3, T-C3. Q-C4; B-F3. Most complete chant (App. 3) statements appear in S (mm. 2-6, 11-16 and 37-41) and A (mm. 16-20) primarily in semibreves and include portions of melismas for “laetare” and “portare” in 1.p. On the other hand, chant presented in breves and semibreves permeates the imitative texture of 2.p. The concluding “alleluia” infused with chant-based motivic material and supported by a four-note “alleluia” motive in T, Q and B (mm. 52-65) is entirely restated in mm. 65-78. Except for initial measures of both pars the antiphon is full voiced. Declamatory text setting prevails. Final F, b♭ signature.
