Scores

[1] Quia quem meruisti

Polyphonic ensemble STBX

[S]-C1; [Ct]-C4; [T]-C4; [B]-F4. Alternatim setting. Chant (App. 3), intact for the initial pitches of “quia…alleluia” and “ora…Deum” and often stated in semibreves, permeates the imitative fabric. Chant is treated as a cantus firmus for the concluding “alleluia” sections; it appears in T in semibreves for “ora…Deum” and migrates to the A with the final “alleluia” that includes the first melisma in breves. Declamatory text setting prevails. Final F, b♭ signature.
