Type

Motet

Scores

[1] Regina caeli

Polyphonic ensemble SATB

S-C1; A-C3; T-C4; B-F3. Chant (App. 3), intact at the beginning of all textual phrases including “alleluia” sections, is treated freely as lines develop. Chant permeates the contrapuntal fabric with imitative entries usually at the unison or octave. Syllabic style occurs for the initial pitches of textual phrases but melismas freely embellish lines. Rests interrupt textual phrases (e.g., “quia quem”) or syllables of words (“por-tare” and “alle-luia”). Final F, b♭ signature.

[2] Resurrexit

Polyphonic ensemble SATB
