S I-C1; S II-C1; T-C4. Chant (App. 2) appears in imitation at the beginning of each textual phrase in the two texted equal upper voices but is freely treated as lines unfold. The continuous supportive textless lower voice is devoid of chant. Text underlay of the Pre-Tridentine text is of limited concern. A brief passage (mm. 19-22) within “ave…angelorum” couples triple mensuration in the T with duple mensuration in the two upper voices. Final G.

Ave, regina caelorum,
Ave, domina angelorum:
Salve, radix, salve, porta,
Ex qua mundo lux est orta:

Gaude, virgo gloriosa,
Super omnes speciosa,
Vale, o valde decora,
Et pro nobis Christum exora.

***

Pre-Tridentine version:

Ave regina coelorum,
Ave, domina angelorum,

Et pro nobis Christum exora.
