Full title / Other titles

AR119 Alma redemptoris mater 4 vv

Scores

Polyphonic ensemble SATB

S-C1; A-C3; T-C3; B-F3. Chant (App. 1) is primarily intact in the T with occasional anticipatory entrances and imitative statements in other voices. Within an imitative, contrapuntal texture structural points are denoted with a full cadence for the first textual phrase and reduced number of voices for the beginning of phrase 2 (“Et stella maris”); triple mensuration for phrase 4 sets it apart from the previous material in duple mensuration. Melismatic text setting prevails. Final F, b♭ signature.
