[S I]-G2; [S II]-G2; [A]-C2; [T I]-C3; [T II]-C3; [B]-F3. High clefs. Entire range, c’-f’’. No evidence of chant. The setting exhibits combination of imitative, contrapuntal and homorhythmic styles. Opening duo between B and T I is, respectively, restated by T II and S I. Clavius effectively contrasts three and four voices with full texture. Four textual phrases are delineated through textural contrast and cadences. Declamatory style prevails with inclusion of short melismas. B exhibits strong harmonic progressions. Final C.

Alma redemptoris mater, quae pervia caeli porta manes
Et stella maris, succurre cadenti surgere qui curat populo:
Tu quae genuisti, natura mirante, tuum sanctum genitorem:
Virgo prius ac posterius, Gabrielis ab ore sumens illud, Ave, peccatorum miserere.
