[Tp I]-G2; [Tp II]-G2; [A]-C2; [T]-C3. High clefs. Entire range, e♭-g’’. Alternatim setting. “Salve” intonation in Tp II. Chant (App. 4) set apart primarily in semibreves in Tp II, serves as a cantus firmus; occasional chant melismas are truncated (e.g., “regina” of verse 1 and “misericordes” of verse 5), or plainsong associated with specific words or phrases is omitted: “converte” of verse 5 and “O dulcis virgo Maria,” of verse 9. The cantus firmus casts limited influence upon other voices that provide a contrapuntal fabric of imitative entries with contrasting rhythmic gestures comprised of minums and semiminums at the beginning of each pars, as well as verse 9, “O dulcis virgo Maria.” Final g, b♭ signature; several e-flats included in MS, or editorially necessary.
