Scores

[1] Regina celi

Polyphonic ensemble ST

[D]-C4; [T]-C4. Alternatim setting; verses 2 and 4 are relegated to plainsong. No evidence of chant. A cantilena voice is supported by a rhythmically slower lower voice in compound duple mensuration. Whereas only the D of “regina celi…” is also notated for text “resurrexit…” the T may be restated as well. The trope Alle Domine nate matris[1] with cantus firmus in the lower voice concludes the antiphon; text of second verses reads “surgebas valide” instead of “surgebas rex pie.” Final F, b♭ signature.

1. Alle Domine nate matris Deus alme nobis confer praestaque vivere:
O Lord, born of a kindly mother, grant and give us life.

Quam [quoniam] te decet laus honor O Domine qui de morte surgebas rex pie:
Since praise and honor become you, O blessed Lord, who rose a king from the dead:

Fac nos tecum surgere, alleluia.
Let us rise with you, alleluia.
