Three equal choirs. C-C1; A-C3; T-C4; B-F4. Chant (App. 3) associated with “regina celi” is relegated to C (breves and semibreves) in each choir within a homorhythmic texture (mm. 1-15). The four textual phrases are presented in identical or varied overlapping antiphonal statements beginning with Choir I; only the first textual phrase concludes with a tutti. Treated as a refrain, the “alleluia” provides additional symmetry; the first and fourth “alleluia” sections follow identical antiphonal treatment (Choirs I, II, III, I, II, III, I, II, III tutti) whereas the second and third “alleluia” segments observe the plan: Choirs III, I, II, III, I, II, III, I, II, tutti. “Resurrexit…dixit” contrasts both in triple mensuration and with a modulation to D. Declamatory style is defined by syllabic text setting. Final F, b♭ signature.
The verse and responsory[1] that follow the antiphon are also set in polyphony; the verse is composed for C I, C II, C III, A and the responsory for tutti.

V: Gaude et letare, Virgo Maria, alleluia.
Rejoice and be glad, Mary, alleluia.
R: Quia surrexit Dominus vere, alleluia.
For the Lord has truly risen, alleluia.

1. Floriano Canale’s Regina coeli (RC045) also includes this responsory.
