S-C1; A-C3; T-C4; B-F4. Chant (App. 3), intact at the beginning of textual phrases and words (“portare”) and often presented in semibreves and breves, permeates the imitative, contrapuntal texture. Introduced via paired imitation (“regina caeli”), chant appears in T and S, the axis voices; A and B in diminution (minums) anticipate respective entrances (“ora pro nobis”) in S and T in semibreves. Declamatory text setting prevails. Final F, b♭ signature.

Description

Josephson supports Llorens’ attribution to Michot (Josephson, 1982, p. XIX) and José Llorens (1960, p. 97). On the other hand, Shine attributes the motet to Johannes Mouton (Shine, 1953, pp. 745-50).
